The recall at a glance

From the CPSC notice:

  • Product: electric balloon pumps sold by Dollar Tree. High-pressure pump with continuous and touch-on modes. Pink plastic body with a blue handle and two nozzles.
  • Model number: 406198, printed on the silver rating label on the bottom of the pump and on the packaging.
  • Hazard: the pumps can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
  • Units: about 360,500.
  • Remedy: full refund.
  • Sold: at Dollar Tree stores nationwide and online at dollartree.com and doordash.com, between August 2025 and July 2026, for about $17.

  • Retailer: Dollar Tree Stores, Inc., of Chesapeake, Virginia. Made in China.

What to do if you have one

CPSC’s instructions:

  1. Stop using the pump immediately.
  2. In-store buyers: return it to any Dollar Tree store for a full refund.
  3. Online buyers: contact Dollar Tree for a pre-paid shipping label, then return the pump for a full refund.

How to reach Dollar Tree, as listed by CPSC:

  • Phone: 877-530-8733, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Sunday.
  • Email: ddirect@dollartree.com
  • Online: dollartree.com/product-recalls, or click “Recall Information” at the bottom of dollartree.com.

Have the model number 406198 ready. The CPSC notice does not say whether a receipt is required for an in-store return; bring one if you still have it.

Why this matters for party and event buyers

These pumps were sold as everyday Dollar Tree party gear, not specialty industrial tools. If you bought a pink-and-blue electric balloon pump at Dollar Tree or through DoorDash delivery from Dollar Tree in the August 2025–July 2026 window, check the bottom label before the next party setup.

CPSC notes that federal law prohibits selling products subject to a Commission-ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken with CPSC. Do not resell a recalled pump at a yard sale or online.

Quick checklist

  • Find every Dollar Tree electric balloon pump in the house or party closet.
  • Confirm model 406198 on the silver bottom label or the box.
  • Unplug it and stop using it.
  • Return it to any Dollar Tree for a refund, or call 877-530-8733 / email ddirect@dollartree.com if you bought online.
  • Do not sell or give away a recalled unit.

This article will not update automatically. For the current wording, use the CPSC notice.
