How to use Google Search Console Insights: open the Insights report inside Search Console, check which pages and queries are trending up or down, then refresh the pages that are slipping and write posts for rising queries you have no page for. It summarises clicks, impressions, top pages, queries, countries and other traffic sources in one view.

Google's help page says the report replaces the older standalone Insights beta and is being rolled out gradually, so it may not appear on every property yet.

What does each Search Console Insights card show?

  • Clicks and impressions: a quick health check for the selected date range
  • Your content: top pages, pages trending up and pages trending down
  • Queries leading to your site: the real search terms people used
  • Top countries: where your clicks come from, useful for spelling, examples and timing
  • Branded vs non-branded traffic: Google says this AI classification is for information only and does not affect ranking
  • Additional traffic sources: Image, Video, News and Discover clicks

How does Insights decide what is trending?

Google orders trending items by the change in clicks, not the percentage change. A big page gaining 40 clicks outranks a tiny page that doubled from 5 to 10.

How do you turn Insights into post ideas?

  1. Open Queries leading to your site and note queries you rank for without a page built for them. Each one is a post idea
  2. Open Your content, pick one page trending down, and update its facts, title and intro
  3. Click any page, query or country to open the Performance report filtered to it, then compare periods to confirm the trend

How often should you check Search Console Insights?

Once a week is enough for most small sites. A 15-minute routine works: update one falling page, plan one post for one rising query, and check the average position of both in Performance.

FAQ

Is Search Console Insights free? Yes. It is part of Google Search Console, which is free.

Why can't I see Insights in my Search Console? Google says the report is being introduced gradually, so some properties may not have it yet.

Does branded traffic data affect my rankings? No. Google says the branded classification is for information only.
